Balance Druid rotation guide & helper

Play Balance Druid like a skilled player: the current priority, cooldowns that line up, AoE when it pays and kicks on the casts that matter.

Updated for patch 12.1.5 · World of Warcraft: Midnight · Windows
Guide

How Balance plays.

You keep Moonfire and Sunfire on your target, build Astral Power with Starfire or Wrath, and spend it on Starsurge - or Starfall in packs. Eclipse is its own button with charges: it's a Solar Eclipse, turns Lunar after you cast Starfire and back with Wrath. The helper uses the button as whatever Eclipse it is right now.

One target

  1. Moonkin Form when you're out of it.
  2. Sunfire and Moonfire when they have under 2 seconds left, or are running out outside Eclipse.
  3. Celestial Alignment or Incarnation at 60 or more Astral Power.
  4. Fury of Elune and Force of Nature in Eclipse, Convoke the Spirits inside Celestial Alignment with low Astral Power.
  5. Eclipse at 70 or more Astral Power, or before its charges cap.
  6. Starsurge in Eclipse, or at 82 or more Astral Power so it doesn't cap.
  7. New Moon, Half Moon and Full Moon when they won't overcap, Wild Mushroom in Eclipse, then Starfire or Wrath.

Packs

  • Pack lines start at 3 targets (changeable).
  • Starfall from 3 targets with 50 or more Astral Power or in Eclipse, and on its procs.
  • Starfire takes over from Wrath from 3 targets.
  • Celestial Alignment or Incarnation goes out right away on 3 or more targets.
  • Moonfire and Sunfire on other mobs come from your mouse: rest it on a mob that's fighting you and is missing one. Sunfire also spreads itself.

Good to know

  • The order comes from the guides, not SimulationCraft's own Balance list.
  • Both hero trees work: Elune's Chosen (every guide's pick) always plays Starfire, Keeper of the Grove plays Wrath on 1-2 targets and Force of Nature on cooldown.
What it does for you

Built for Balance.

01

Cooldowns that line up

Your Balance cooldowns go when the priority says so, not when a timer runs out.

02

AoE when it pays

Area spells only once enough enemies are around you. You pick the number.

03

Kicks and stuns

Interrupts on the casts that matter, at the last safe moment, and no stuns on mobs that can't be stunned.

04

DoTs on every mob

Rest your mouse on another enemy and your missing DoT goes there. Your target never changes.

05

Immunity learning

It learns which mobs shrug off your spells and stops casting them there.

06

You stay in control

Every spell, threshold and line of the priority is yours to change. One switch turns it off.

In the rotation

Balance spells it uses.

Lines for spells you don't have are skipped, so it follows your talents.
