How Shadow plays.

Shadow keeps Vampiric Touch up, and Tentacle Slam puts it on up to 6 mobs at once. Once your DoTs are up, Voidform goes out on cooldown. Shadow Word: Madness is your Insanity spender: the helper keeps it rolling and doesn't let Insanity cap. Mind Blast, Void Blast and Mind Flay: Insanity fill the gaps, Mind Flay is the filler.

One target

  1. Shadowform, whenever you're not in it or in Voidform.
  2. Vampiric Touch on your target when it's missing - through Tentacle Slam if you have it.
  3. Power Infusion, Halo and Voidform once Vampiric Touch is ticking.
  4. Shadow Word: Madness when it's about to fall off, when Insanity is close to full, with Mind Devourer, or during Voidform.
  5. Tentacle Slam to refresh Vampiric Touch, Void Torrent, Void Blast, Mind Blast, Mind Flay: Insanity.
  6. Vampiric Touch refreshed, Shadow Word: Death below 20% (35% with Deathspeaker).
  7. Mind Flay as the filler.

Packs

  • There is no separate pack list: Tentacle Slam spreads Vampiric Touch for you.
  • The mob under your mouse (fighting you, not your target) gets Vampiric Touch when it's missing or running out.
  • Void Volley goes out when Voidform is ready, or during Voidform.

Good to know

  • Archon and Voidweaver both work: Halo and Void Torrent with Void Blast follow your talents.
  • Voidweaver's Shadow Word: Death on an absorb shield stays yours.
  • Desperate Prayer is used by the helper's defensive step, not the rotation.
  • Mind Flay keeps channeling until a higher spell is ready.

Cooldowns that line up

Your Shadow cooldowns go when the priority says so, not when a timer runs out.

AoE when it pays

Area spells only once enough enemies are around you. You pick the number.

Kicks and stuns

Interrupts on the casts that matter, at the last safe moment, and no stuns on mobs that can't be stunned.

DoTs on every mob

Rest your mouse on another enemy and your missing DoT goes there. Your target never changes.

Immunity learning

It learns which mobs shrug off your spells and stops casting them there.

You stay in control

Every spell, threshold and line of the priority is yours to change. One switch turns it off.

In the rotation

Shadow spells it uses.

Lines for spells you don't have are skipped, so it follows your talents.
