Demonology Warlock rotation guide & helper

Play Demonology Warlock like a skilled player: the current priority, cooldowns that line up, AoE when it pays and kicks on the casts that matter.

Updated for patch 12.1.5 · World of Warcraft: Midnight · Windows
Guide

How Demonology plays.

You spend Soul Shards on Hand of Gul'dan to call Wild Imps, and build shards back with Shadow Bolt, Infernal Bolt and Demonbolt when Demonic Core is up. Call Dreadstalkers goes out on cooldown, Summon Demonic Tyrant is your big cooldown, and Implosion turns your imps into pack damage.

One target (Soul Harvester)

  1. Power Siphon when you have 1 Demonic Core or none.
  2. Hand of Gul'dan with Dominion of Argus.
  3. Your grimoire demons and Summon Doomguard.
  4. Call Dreadstalkers, then Summon Demonic Tyrant.
  5. Hand of Gul'dan.
  6. Infernal Bolt below 3 Soul Shards, Demonbolt with Demonic Core below 4.
  7. Shadow Bolt as the filler.

Packs

  • Implosion at 6 or more Wild Imps, from 3 targets (or on one target with To Hell and Back). Both numbers are changeable.
  • Doom on other mobs comes from your mouse: rest it on a mob that's fighting you without your Doom, and with a Demonic Core the helper casts Demonbolt there.

Diabolist

  • Summon Demonic Tyrant waits for exactly 5 Soul Shards.
  • Hand of Gul'dan at 3 or more shards while Tyrant is more than 5 seconds away, or at 5.
  • Ruination goes out when it's there.
  • With Reign of Tyranny, Call Dreadstalkers is timed around the Tyrant.

Good to know

  • The game shows no imp count, so the helper counts your Wild Imps from your Hand of Gul'dan casts (one per shard, about 12 seconds each), minus the ones Implosion and Power Siphon use.
  • Your racial goes out while the Tyrant is out (it counts 15 seconds from the cast).
  • Soul Harvester is also the list without a hero tree.
  • Your demon is summoned out of combat - the one you summoned last (a switch).
What it does for you

Built for Demonology.

01

Cooldowns that line up

Your Demonology cooldowns go when the priority says so, not when a timer runs out.

02

AoE when it pays

Area spells only once enough enemies are around you. You pick the number.

03

Kicks and stuns

Interrupts on the casts that matter, at the last safe moment, and no stuns on mobs that can't be stunned.

04

DoTs on every mob

Rest your mouse on another enemy and your missing DoT goes there. Your target never changes.

05

Immunity learning

It learns which mobs shrug off your spells and stops casting them there.

06

You stay in control

Every spell, threshold and line of the priority is yours to change. One switch turns it off.

In the rotation

Demonology spells it uses.

Lines for spells you don't have are skipped, so it follows your talents.

Tuning

Tune Demonology your way.

A few of the settings you can change in game, shown with their default.

  • Summon your demon out of combat (the one you summoned last, else Felguard / Felhunter / Imp) - on by default
  • Lines for 3+ targets start at 3 targets (and the single-target ones stop)
