Affliction Warlock rotation guide & helper

Play Affliction Warlock like a skilled player: the current priority, cooldowns that line up, AoE when it pays and kicks on the casts that matter.

Updated for patch 12.1.5 · World of Warcraft: Midnight · Windows
Guide

How Affliction plays.

You keep your damage over time effects ticking - Agony and Corruption (Wither on Hellcaller) - and spend Soul Shards on Unstable Affliction, your single-target spender. Haunt goes out on cooldown, Summon Darkglare comes once your effects are fresh, and Drain Soul is the filler. Nightfall makes it faster.

One target (Soul Harvester)

  1. Haunt on cooldown.
  2. Agony and Corruption when they have under 3 seconds left.
  3. Dark Harvest below 3 Soul Shards, when it finishes before your effects fall off.
  4. Summon Darkglare while Dark Harvest is on cooldown.
  5. Malefic Grasp, Drain Soul or Shadow Bolt with 2 or more Nightfall stacks.
  6. Unstable Affliction with a Soul Shard.
  7. Drain Soul as the filler (Malefic Grasp while Darkglare is out).

Packs

  • Two targets play the cleave lines, 3 or more the pack lines (both changeable).
  • Seed of Corruption is the pack spender: it goes out when your target's Corruption is missing or running out, and with Sow the Seeds or from 6 targets as the main spender.
  • Other mobs get their effects from your mouse: rest it on a mob that's fighting you and is missing Agony or Corruption (Wither), and the helper casts it there.

Darkglare and the end of a fight

  • Your racial goes out while Darkglare is out.
  • In the last 8 seconds, leftover Soul Shards go into Unstable Affliction (1-2 targets) or Seed of Corruption (3 or more).
  • In the last 5 seconds a Nightfall goes out right away.

Good to know

  • Both hero trees work: Hellcaller plays Wither instead of Corruption and adds Malevolence; Soul Harvester is also the list without a hero tree.
  • Drain Soul and Malefic Grasp run their full channel.
  • Your demon is summoned out of combat - the one you summoned last (a switch). With Grimoire of Sacrifice it's sacrificed once it's out.
What it does for you

Built for Affliction.

01

Cooldowns that line up

Your Affliction cooldowns go when the priority says so, not when a timer runs out.

02

AoE when it pays

Area spells only once enough enemies are around you. You pick the number.

03

Kicks and stuns

Interrupts on the casts that matter, at the last safe moment, and no stuns on mobs that can't be stunned.

04

DoTs on every mob

Rest your mouse on another enemy and your missing DoT goes there. Your target never changes.

05

Immunity learning

It learns which mobs shrug off your spells and stops casting them there.

06

You stay in control

Every spell, threshold and line of the priority is yours to change. One switch turns it off.

In the rotation

Affliction spells it uses.

Lines for spells you don't have are skipped, so it follows your talents.
